The Strategy

In 2008, the BID hosted it’s first annual MLK Street Jam and BBQ. The inaugural event was successful, however the BID wanted to increase interest and attendance at this family-friendly event from people across Southeast Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

The Results

With only three months to plan and execute a campaign, Clear Verve got to work. We worked with a wide variety of media outlets to attract BBQ chefs for the BBQ competition as well as to publicize the event and attract attendees. This media blitz resulted in numerous newspaper and magazine mentions, as well as several appearances on local network TV. In addition, the MPTV show Black Nouveau filmed a segment at the event which aired at a later date. All this attention resulted in a large, diverse crowd of families and singles, young and old, for a day of fun on King Drive. Attendance exceeding expectations and the BID was extremely happy with the results.
